NC’s Leadership Competencies: An Equitable Approach in Action!
North Carolina’s Leadership competencies are inconspicuously woven throughout each of the NC Standards for School Executives. Participants will engage in a deep dive of the twenty-one competencies while using an equity framework to develop knowledge and skills in each area. This learning series will take place online and is self-paced.
Decision Analysis with TregoED
Participants will learn to make critical decisions in an uncontentious way. When done right, the protocols you’ll develop can unite people and build commitment to a shared outcome. Decision Analysis starts with the end in mind -- what do we want and need in a final choice? Choosing the best option becomes clearer (and often less divisive) if we first get stakeholder agreement on what’s important. Decision Analysis is used to arrive at a decision that delivers desired results and fosters stakeholder support.
Business for Educational Success and Transformation NC Miniseries (NC Education Data 101: Facts, Figures & Myth Busters / Engaging the Business Voice / NC Education Governance, Finance & Policy: Who’s In Charge / Education Policy in Practice: A Case Study). See below for further details.

The 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX)
The 4 Disciplines of Execution: Manager Certification focuses on
- Developing the Wildly Important Goal: Exceptional execution starts with narrowing the focus— clearly identifying what must be done, or nothing else you achieve really matters much.
- Act on the Lead Measures: Twenty percent of activities produce eighty percent of results. The highest predictors of goal achievement are the 80/20 activities that are identified and codified into individual actions and tracked fanatically.
-Keep a Compelling Scoreboard: People and teams play differently when they are keeping score, and the right kind of scoreboards motivate the players to win.
- Create a Cadence of Accountability: Great performers thrive in a culture of accountability that is frequent, positive, and self-directed. Each team engages in a simple weekly process that highlights successes, analyzes failures, and course-corrects as necessary, creating the ultimate performance-management system.

Restorative Practice
The session will focus on creating an awareness of restorative practices when interacting with children and how those experiences may affect learning. Restorative practices help students to own their behavior choices, repair harm with those who were hurt or affected, and involve the community in helping both the victim and the offender. As a school leader, in seeking a solution to disproportionate discipline data, these practices implemented with skill have proven powerful in not only reducing suspensions but also in deeply embedding a culture of mutual respect.
